1 November 2010
Dear Friends of the History Festival and IIM Powwow,
As many of you know all too well, the 15th, 16th and 17th of
April 2011 will be here before you know it. We are hoping that you will be joining us for the 10th annual Lawrence County
History Festival and IIM Powwow!
There have been so many
changes and additions to the 2011 event and many more in the making. We believe that you will find that weekend a rewarding
re-enacting experience. Some of the changes and additions are:
1. A New Location! We have moved from Murray Park to property adjoining Bedford North Lawrence High School.
There are 60+ beautiful acres of fields just waiting on us, which will allow us to grow the event. This is located just
off Highway 50 East just a few miles east of the city of Bedford.
2. A New Huge Battlefield!!! Just what we need to have some great battles. A lot of room for re-enactors
to play in.
3. Great
camping sites for your groups.
4. The historic Clara Barton cabin will be opened up, just a short walk from our encampment. For those
of you who do not know who Clara Barton was, she was the founder of the American Red Cross, and worked for the Red Cross right
here in Lawrence County.
5. The Civil War Ball has been brought back for Saturday evening. This year we will be celebrating the 150th anniversary
of the election of Abraham Lincoln to the office of the President of the United States of America.
As per usual, you will be recieving all of the benefits of wood, straw and a great Saturday
evening meal.
Also, you can register here online
by scrolling down to the big blue button at the bottom of the page marked "2011 Pre-Registration Form" and downloading
the form, and then mailing it in, or emailing it to us. We like to have pre-registrations, so we can plan ahead,
but if unable to pre-register you may register on site when you arrive. Look for the Registration Booth.
We are looking forward to seeing you next April.
Sincerely,
Norm Taylor
Director, Lawrence County History Festival
